Membership and By-Laws
In 1905, four members of the Stetson family agreed to contact as many of Cornet’s descendants as they could locate. They felt that a person of Cornet’s importance should be remembered and that the homestead property should be preserved for future generations of Stetson kin. Thus was born the Stetson Kindred of America, Inc., whose membership is now over 600. The mission of the organization is to encourage antiquarian, genealogical and historical research, especially with reference to the times, the ancestors, and the descendants of Robert Stetson and his wife Honour.
Members of the Stetson Kindred share in the joy of discovering and sharing their heritage—a never-ending history in which all members contribute to making a personal family history come to life.
There are a variety of membership levels for lineal descendants, and an associate membership for those who are interested in learning more and participate with the Stetson Kindred. Included in an annual membership is an interesting quarterly newsletter, the Kindred Spirit. Several books are also available concerning the Stetson genealogy and history during the colonial era and are available for purchase.
